~37 miles, biking. Today was bike ride day - kind of did 2 rides (one with my brother, and one with Eric Tai). Good company, but not a good ride. I felt rather miserable, actually. My legs burned so much, I felt so slow, and I really felt like crying at points. But I like "having done" the ride - thank you :).
12.65 mi
Went for a bit less than an hour and a half with my brother this morning, along the Canal Trail. It was mighty chilly (in my opinion) so I was all decked out in UnderArmour, Jackets galore, and then I wore sweatpants. Silly me had left my tights at Tech. And gloves. But then it warmed up, so ended up taking off layers. Oh man... my brother rides this old (reeeeally heavy) steel bike, but he was booking it and I couldn't keep up =[.
25.6 miles
Then after eating breakfast (mm sausages and eggs), I set out to bike up Mt. Diablo with Eric Tai. The sky was completely clear - not a cloud in the sky, and it was a beautiful view, that just got better as we climbed, but of course I was not appreciating this on the way up... Climbed to 3849 ft over about 11 miles, to the summit. I kept wanting to stop, since my legs were really fatigued for some reason. There's the sore tired, and then the fatigued "I feel like they're going to collapse" tired. I was the latter, today. I was so so ready to stop... but then Eric Tai kept saying oh come on... just try a bit. And then eventually we got to the top. There was snow on the way up! And it was quite windy and chilly at the top. There were a few other bikers that we saw on the way up. "The final segment of the climb to the summit, after the junction, is 4.5 miles long with an average gradient of 6.5%-7%. Unlike the two roads that converge at its base, Summit Road is relentlessly uphill...but the defining feature of the climb to Mt. Diablo was yet to come—the narrow, one-way, 100-meter 17% finishing stretch from the lower summit parking lot to the higher one." So I ended up walking a bit, and kept having to stop on the way down, because my hands were getting really tired from braking. Right turns are so scary! When they are blind and tight, and if you don't turn tightly enough, then you risk biking off the edge of the mountain, or being hit by an upcoming car around the blind turn, going the other way. Anyways, I was a very complain-y one today... I hope that Eric Tai doesn't vow to never go on a ride with me again...
hello, darkness, my old friend

36:41 on the canal trail.
I forgot to bring my tights home! Grr... I was going to try and bike today (yes! I brought my bike home) but it was wet outside, so I decided that wouldn't be safe. Run was pretty good; moderately slow pace. Remembered about a mile and a half into the run that I had eaten a hearty egg/mushroom/sausage/fried rice breakfast about an hour before embarking. Oops.. but it was good - usually I get to the 10 minute place where I used to stretch, and feel like turning around, but I didn't today.
Glad I got that run in, since I'll be kind of molding, out of commission for the next 10 days (boo stitches).

Lacy the long way with Sally and Perrin. I haven't done a night run in a while (well, 5:30 PM isn't really night, but it was dark) - it felt wonderful. My legs felt fresh. I wasn't tired. The air was cool and brisk. Perfect. My only complaint was my stomach, because I ate a ton of food right before starting the run, because I was really hungry.
Later, I went to the gym with Clara. We did some abs (ahhh need to do abs.. majorly), and then ran our 400 (77... depressingly slow today). It was nice and cold outside, too! Doh.. Then we headed back in and did light weights, attempted to shoot some hoops (fail, haha), and then sat on the bike for 15 minutes while reading textbooks. I read more of the book while sitting on that bike than I have all of today. Ah! Need to focus and study for finals.
It rained today! Yayy.. but I was sitting in my room for most of the day, while the world was changing outside. By the time I went for a run, it had stopped raining, and it was just cold.

Oy, finals week took its toll towards the end... a large part of me died with the transport final.
Ran in the rain with Clara. What originally was going to be Patrician turned into Madre, which turned into Siera Madre. So it was about 2.5 miles in the pouring rain. mm :). Then we did a 400 on the track (was actually untimed, this time). The field was drenched in about an inch of water, and consequently, so was parts of lane 1. It didn't really matter, since we were soaked already. So then we also decided to go for a swim in our already soaking clothes. I think we elicited strange looks from the lifeguards, but who are they to judge.. walking back in pink towels probably elicited stranger looks. Ah, living life.

Wah! I was not going to swim today... went to return my xc uniform, stopped to say hi to Clint. And then I ended up in the pool for almost 2 hours. Ah! So much work to do now... work work zug zug.

Swim meet vs. CMS. I swam the 50 free (27.48), 100 free (apparently 1:00.73, according to the results but I don't think that's right.. was probably 1:05...), and 200 free relay. My times were quite slow, but it wasn't unexpected... I'm not in swimming shape at all. I've only been to 1 practice.

Madre with Clara. ~43 minutes. It was wonderfully brisk outside - feels like winter, finally! I got a bit of a stitch today, though.. mrawr. XC banquet was today. Alan (most outstanding) and Garrett (Paul something) won they guy's awards, and then Masha was Celia Peterson (a new one for the women, funded by KB). I'm happy I finally got outstanding.
